Mining collection

The exhibition was created on a private initiative in 2008 in homage to Saint Barbara, the patron saint of Hungarian miners and mining. In 2010, the collection was expanded with a special exhibition, bringing the visitor closer to the real dimensions. What you see here is just a fragment of the tools and memories of a mining industry that dates back over a thousand years. The exhibits did not strive for perfection, because they could not have set such a grand goal for themselves. They had to be content with a limited presentation of just a slice of the mine, as the capacity of the exhibition space and the available funds also limited their imagination. According to the founders, they wanted to at least indicate with this collection that a flourishing mining industry once flourished in Miskolc and its surroundings. There was a mining culture, the main one is much larger in its variety and scope.

The Collection can be visited on weekdays between 9 am and 1 pm upon registration.

There is no entrance fee.
